There comes a point in everyone’s life when you just have to stop refilling plastic bottles with water and move onto something else. After going from plastic bottles to half-litre aluminium ones, the next step was to get a stainless steel one.
For some reason most stainless steel bottles I found on search engines seemed to be in a different continent. And then I heard about these H2Onya bottles from a friend who had bought one. So I looked into them and found that the company had a webpage with an assortment of sizes and some lids to add to them. After much pondering I decided to go for the one-litre bottle, given the rising temperatures (think 40ºC+ at times).
The bottle comes with a BPA-free flip-and-flow lid which is probably very useful for sports. The fact is I never used it, because together with the bottle I got a bamboo loop lid, which can be purchased separately on the same website. It is actually made out of stainless steel as well, and it has a silicone ring around it to help close it. I don’t actually think the silicone comes into contact with the water, so basically, all that the water touches is stainless steel. It just seemed healthier than plastic, even if it was BPA-free.
Visually I think it is incredibly pretty, with a lovely curved shape and some nice colours. I think this size is just right for day trips or long journeys, although to have a more convenient, compact and presumably lighter bottle it would have to be a smaller capacity. Onya makes 350, 500, 750 and 1000 ml so there’s a good choice of sizes.
